If you wish codecs for QuickTime player, then you should get DivX, _ XviD, _ 3ivx. And perhaps ffmpegX and FFusion. And for QT support for WMV files then Flip4Mac WMV Player
VLC was previously called Video Lan but they changed it to VLC some years ago. MPlayer is likewise the name of the program.
