limewire won't open!!! please help!

installation went well, but every time i've tried to enter into limewire, i get this clock thing then the limewire sign with limes behind it and the program suddenly closes. sometimes a sign will pop up saying something about an error of type 11 and some other technical stuff. i have a mac os9 and a dsl cable modem. any suggestions for the non-familiar-w/-mac-operating-systems-person (me)?

Are you using LimeWire 2.1.3? If you are using LimeWire 1.8 or below, I would strongly recommend downloading the latest version.

That said, I would also recommend using the LimeWire uninstaller (located in your LimeWire installation directory), and deleting all files in your LimeWire installation directory, except for any files that you have downloaded and would like to keep.

Once you have done this, try running the latest installer from the LimeWire web site.

I am also having the same problem, running on the same system(OS9 and DSL) that CommanderPuffball is having. Has anyone figured out a solution for this yet? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't seem to work. I have also tried installing the MRJ directly from apple and then downloading the other version of Limewire(4.5mb), but that didn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I used to run 1.8 with no problems and I miss using Limewire.

Can you guys tell me any more information about what errors you get? Does a window open up asking you to copy the error in an e-mail to LimeWire? If so, can you send the error to me at afisk@limepeer.com?

Thanks.

i believe i downloaded version 2.1
recently i got the limewire screen (not loaded all the way), and infront of it a box w/ nothing in it saying in the header: upgrade to limewire pro. then on the header of the limewire screen it said disconnected and something about no files.

Java error

Hi I am also unable to get Limewire after a complete reinstall.

The error message says "Unable to Launch Java Application. The properties files is missing an essential property: lax.main.class. Please make sure it exists in the properties file: /"

I have reinstalled Limewire and reinstalled Java runtime from the apple 9.1 CD. I cannot run the Limewire uninstaller because the same problem occurs.

Any ideas??

Thanks a lot

Zac

Same. I have the java, and I increased the memory, but still get the clock thing. It looks like it's downloading and then nothing. I miss my old Limewire. Is there any way that I can get it back?! ARGH

had launch problem with the old version as well.

starting last week sometime, the freebie version of limewire (18c or something like that) that I had been running on my imac DV (system 9.0.4 and cable modem) started to unusually freeze on startup. I would go through the launch proceedure but when it would open the "search" screen, most elements (buttons, lines graphics, background etc.) would be hidden. If I randomly moved the mouse and clicked around on this mostly blank page (where the buttons should be) they would appear, but not be active. if I would minimize the page and open it again, it would be blank again. I figured I would go to the website and get the $ Pro version 2.1 because it would be worth it. However, much of the same thing is happening with the new version as happened with the old version. So far Ive:
- uninstalled and re-installed several times.
- increased the memory of the 2.1.3 application
- Rebuilt desktop
- zapped Pram
- run a software re-install of the system
- run norton disk doctor
- run norton speed disk file defragmenter
- tried other available limewire mac downloads (including no VM whatever that means)
all to no avail
I miss my limewire as well, any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

same problem

I have tried everything that kaosprods has tried, including installing MRJ from the Apple site. Sometimes I get the clock only, and sometimes I get a message saying that MRJ is not properly installed. However, if I open the program without my net connection running, it opens fine. I am using AOL with Netscape running over it. Please help! This is making me crazy trying to fix it!
