Finally someone who shares my grief! I have the exact same problem when running Limewire on my Mac G4. I have uninstalled and re-installed this thing 3 times already and I consistently get the same results. Someone HELP!

You might have an extension conflict. Switch to the Mac OS All extension set in Control Panels:Extensions Manager, restart, and see if the problem is still there. If the problem is gone then some third-party extension is giving a problem. Turn on half of those remaining extensions, restart, see if the problem is still there, and repeat until the problem is narrowed to one extension. Tell us what that extension is so others can workaround the problem.

I am having major freeze problems as well. They advertise the latest version as more stable, but it freezes everytime I use it. I am using a G3 minitower with 768 megs of RAM, OS 9.1.

I tried changing my extenstions to OS All, but the problem persisted. Major bugs remain in this application! I read in the FAQ section that the Basic (free) version installs third party software, spyware, on your computer. Could this be the problem? If so, how do I locate and remove the spyware? What are the names I should look for?

Freezes

No doubt, cut off some damn extensions, and oh yeah, try paying an easy 8 bucks and ordering the "real" limewire for macs. I'm telling it makes all the difference.

system freeze in OS-X

Limewire -X freezes my computer while running OS-X.. Something it supposedly can't do. Well it DOES!!!! I'm running version 2.2.1 of limewire and my machine freezes every once and a while. The CapsLock key works, the light goes on and off but no other keys function. I can't switch apps to put it in the background nor can I use the keys to bring up the Force quit window. Even the clock stops. The only way out of this is to force a shutdown with the reset button and restart.

You figure after 7 years they could make this somewhat bug free!

Try uninstalling it, reinstalling it, turning off the fax and STP extensions that came with the MRJ package that lime wire uses, adding more ram, the limewire ppl suggest at least 64megs. It works...It used to crash all the time when I tried to click on the apple menu but I increased the ram and now it's all good except for the frigging "please insert zip disk" dialogue box that pops up all the time. I'm on a g4, 512 megs RAM btw
