"Mac Help" detects a serious problem but can't fix it. The 1st time Limewire froze my Mac, after rebooting, the "Mac Help" scan disk-type announcement said that there was a serious error on my disk but that it couldn't be fixed by "Mac Help." I opened up the verification & repair utility & sure enough, it told me there were serious errors & to get lost. This is still the case. As a result, I can't verify or repair my hard disk anymore. (I don't know if it matters, but I'm running on the French version of OS 9). Could someone please tell me what to do ? Thanx a lot :) !!! uncleterr@hotmail.com |
I had the same problem, so what I did was: Close LimeWire, open up your Mac Utilities file and find the real "Disk First Aid" app (the utility that told you there were serious problems) - when I ran it completely without LimeWire running, and not from a reboot, it found and fixed the errors. |
Thank You ! A bit of Norton + a PRAM reset seems to've fixed things up... (It got pretty nasty for a couple 'a hours though). Thanx "Unregistered" for your advice. (Though I h'd already tried running the S.O.S. Mac utility several times w/o Limewire being open but nothin' doin' !!!) Vive Internet & nice people like you :) !!! Have a great Life :) !!! uncleterr@hotmail.com |
