What does this number mean

The following shows up on my Mac Powerbook G4 laptop.
At the top of the search results window, there is a blue bar with a red dot on the left side, then to the right of it is the name of what I searched for, and to the right of that are numbers that increase as the search continues.

I cannot find anywhere in the manual what those numbers mean. If they are for the number of the requested item found, those numbers never correspond with the results that shows up in the window below them.

What do those numbers mean?
Thank you for answering.

A blue bar in search results generally signifies you found a file on the same LAN as you are using. :) I've never seen it personally.

Quality signifies your chances of successfully connecting to & downloading the file. Four stars is best. One star signifies you would struggle to connect to them (possibly a dial up user but could be someone with most of their upload bandwidth used up or minimal upload settings, else difficulty to connect to due to the isp hops between you & them (some ISP's in those hops may shape p2p bandwidth.))

# represents how many sources (people) have those files that the search was able to find.

? represents file type (icon represents your default player). 'Type' also represents file type (file extension). Size is file size. Speed is their connection type settings. Bitrate is the bit rate the audio file was encoded at.

Thank you. Your information was helpful, and the number I was talking about is in the picture below.

It seems like those numbers indicate how many searches were.

And what does a green check mark in the quality column mean?

Yes, the number represents how many search results found. If you click on any filter to the side, then you will see a number like 5/25 meaning 5 are being shown, the others filtered out.

Under the Quality column: The stars represent your chances of connecting to the host to download from. Four stars is best, one star is worst & least advised to choose. Various network conditions can affect this. Also the amount of slots or bandwidth the other person has available to upload the file to you. Dial up users generally only show one or two stars. A host who is too many ISP hops away from you may also show less than 4 stars. The Green ticks mean you have already downloaded that file.
