Can't load LimeWire songs to iPod

Hi all,

I have been a longtime LimeWire user and have repeatedly upgraded to LimeWire Pro. I just bought a new MacBook Pro, which runs OSX 10.5.4; my LimeWire version is 4.18.3; iTunes version 7.7.1(11). My new LimeWire downloads won't synch to my 80G video iPod. I get messages saying I can't synch to "this iPod."

I never had this problem with earlier versions of LimeWire or my old computer (a G4 PowerBook). I don't know what's going on, except there seems to be some sort of incompatibilty.

I'm not technically proficient, at all, but I'm sure most of you are. Can you possibly help me?

Cordially,
Hugh23

There is a problem with iTunes 7.7 which makes LW's shared library incompatible with it (affects all versions of LW). This affects windows users too. However, you can still create playlists within iTunes or manually add songs to iPod. ;)

Thank you. I can, indeed, make playlists and add individual song to the iTunes library but they won't load/sync to the iPod, which is how I listen to music (through a Bose SoundDock). Does this mean I can no longer use LW for new music? Is there a way around the iTues library

As explained in PM, there is always an option of Smartplaylists. BUT the songs must already be within the iTunes Music Library.

Just received your 2nd PM as I was about to reply. lol Ok so iPod is not reading your iTunes playlists at all. That's odd. They should work after all iPods were designed to work around playlists in iTunes 'if' the songs are actually within the iTunes Music Library. Check How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link} & the links within to the Mac iPod tutorials. I think they might be near bottom of page. I supplied my own copies of the videos for manually updating the iPod because Apple decided to remove their previous videos from their site. Oh here the QuickTime Tutorials: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...tml#post129776 such as manually adding. And recheck their instructions for playlist adding. They do seem to have something odd with the new iTunes. I do have old iTunes versions around.

Double-check all the songs in your playlist to be sure all songs play. There are some duds going around. They might be corrupting your attempts to get the songs onto iPod.

Here's part of what I was going to post: (a) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/321049-post8.html

(b) image below shows another type of playlist.

Hugh23 iTunes/iPod problem

Dear Lord of the Rings--

After reviewing everything you helped me with--I think I have resolved the issue. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thank you, again, so very kindly.
