| These files are fixable! (wish I'd thought of this before I re-re-downloaded that 19 MB file...) All you need to do is get MP3 Rage, which you should have anyway because it is a really excellent program for fixing your ID3 tags, which you do, right? There is a free trial period so you can try it out. Anyway, start up MP3Rage, drop your mystery "limewire document" onto the top button in the console, the one that says "Display & Edit MP3 File Tags." In the upper right hand corner of the window that will open, you'll see the filename, then two windows labeled Type and Creator. Change Type to SITD and Creator to SIT! All caps, and you do need the exclamation point. Click "Update." You'll get a dialog box saying something about there being no tags in the file. Click the option "Delete Tags." Voila! File is fixed, and will open with Stuffit like normal. (If this advice helped you, pass it on, and please spend a little time with MP3 Rage fixing the tags on your files...artist, album, song title...) |
