Scam sites!

Here is a very good list of scam sites:

http://www.p2pforums.com/portal.php?guide=4407

Do not sign to any of the mentioned sites, if you have done it ask immediatly for a refund. If you know a site which isn“t mentioned in the list post it here or at p2pforums.

p2p SCAM

Got another scammer for ya....allcoolmusic.com, they also have other's besides Limewire on their sight too download. I asked them for a refund, and they said they refunded me, have to check with my bank to make sure they did just that.

Please go there and tell me what you think, as this is really ludicrous that they cna get away with this!!

GeoFan49 April 28th, 2005 10:52 AM

Many ads here are for SCAMS!!!

Novices beware... many of the Goooooogle ads here on the top of every Gnutella Forums web page are SCAMS!

Poetic justice I guess... these forums are funded by ad money from the SCAMMERS... But that does not help the poor novices, who may think they can trust Gnutella Forums ADS -- they are gonna be duped...

backmann April 28th, 2005 08:16 PM

We try to filter those ads, but they just keep appearing.

Good to know that at least you're trying. In the past few days it seems to me that 50% of the ads up on top are for SCAMS! I click on them just for fun... and to make them earn their money... haha.

Lord of the Rings July 1st, 2005 07:51 PM

A more up to date list of scam sites can be seen here: List of Scam Sites which was originally taken from the above site & added to as they have come to hand thru this forum.

As far as the scam sites advertising on the forum, these ads should be ignored! The official sites for all the clients represented on this forum can be seen from the appropriate client section or even from the above list.

Welll. I am really mad beause I got it through bear ware. I paid $25 for one year ($17 something USA) and My songs keep skipping. Other than that it's a great site and I love it. The credit card company won't do anything...but send me some sheet to fill out AFTER the fact.
I am so scared of buying online and never do it...and after the fact now I feel so dumb that it was right in my face.

My mother sent me the site and says she has it and oves it so what the hey. Maybe she got lucky? She said she paid $27 buh

.

THIS IS THE BAD SITE!!!!

http://www.free-bearshare.com/cks.

SOO. I should delete that download and get the new one thrugh limewire...even though I ended get limewire in the end...It must just be a fake? A copy? Is the basic worth getting????

Kaukalukka

Lord of the Rings August 19th, 2005 09:00 PM

Well if you want to try LW out then get the Basic version here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml & then see how you like it.

kaukalukka August 20th, 2005 06:27 PM

OK. I have your free verson and whenever I try and downlaod a song I get a mesage saying "Lime Wire cannot find a liecnce for this file. ...PLease repect copyright laws...ect? So I cannot D/L anything?

Whats up...I just want a song D/L that doesn't skip or jump or whatever. please.

mspupuppy August 21st, 2005 11:24 AM

Kuakakukka:

I have Limewire, and it works pretty good for me. What you do is select the songs you want to download onto your MP3 (what kind is it?) and after downloading FROM Limewire, you got to download onto the MP3 website. Let me know how this works out, as it took me quite a while to "master" it...lol

kaukalukka August 21st, 2005 06:21 PM

I am d/L on to my computer....Not an MP3 player

Wetzyl2005 September 19th, 2005 12:16 AM

Theres a site that I visit recently that is about mp3s. I didn't do anything...just browsing...but after a while I receive an email that is from someone that claims to be working on this site inviting me to check out the mp3s they have....

I thought WTF??? How the heck did they do that??? Then I realise that its better to block this sender. Thank God I now got immune from this.

Is this one the sites that we have on the list? Hope that I have not made a mistake but I'm a rude limey.

hi there,

Just wondering if any one can help. went on to emule.com to download and pay for share software, and by reading the rogue sites list realised this is not an official site. Does anyone have suggestions on what i should do, i'm the sort of person who likes to be above board when it comes to this. Should i report it?

any help will be grateful
thanks mike.

Only A Hobo November 16th, 2005 06:26 AM

As you have hopefully discovered, the official Emule site is www.emule-project.net

www.emule.com is in no way related to scam sites, e-mule, or anything else related! unless you are actually referring to www.emule.org which is a scam site.

This last site is listed as a scam site, and if you have paid them money the following link may help.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ight=%24%24%24

As for actually reporting scam sites, I'm not absolutely sure if there is a body you can usefully report them to.

This thread will also be of interest if you have not seen it.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28751

Does this help?

Only A Hobo November 16th, 2005 06:34 AM

It is really a minefield out there and I notice that www.emule-project.net has advertisements for scam sites at the top of the page. This sort of thing happens also in these forums and the way the advertising works makes it very dificult to stop.

Also www.emule.org is very similar indeed to the official emule site, and it becomes pretty confusing, to the point that I am not 100% sure what I have said in the first post is accurate:confused:

This is similar & lists a link that you can report scam sites to. Known Scam Sites You can thank et voilą for the link to the FBI.

Another scam URL

http://www.m*****tvshow.com
leads too http://www.themoviesmembersarea.com after signing up.

Then you get NO confirmation email unless you inquire about it. And then your confirmation receipt is from http://www.mp3downloading.com and this in turn leads to an email from http://www.marketbill.com where the moneys was processed by.

Accept nothing less then the total purchase amount to be returned in a timely manner to you. Do not accept processing fee. Argue till you get the total amount reimbursed. Even if it takes a few emails/chats. http://www.marketbill.com was easily intimidated to return the total amount.

The Guardian UK has done some investigating, and names Download-It-Free.com, Montreal-based Market Engines Inc, run by Daniel Assouline and Michael Dadoun
http://technology.guardian.co.uk/wee...715254,00.html
here's a snip
Quote:

Market Engines is involved with hundreds of websites, including FreeMP3Lover.com, Mp3MusicAccess.com and eMuleCenter.com. Many of these sites are part of an affiliation network operated by Cash Engines, a division of Market Engines. Affiliate networks link merchants with third-party websites that advertise links to the merchants' goods and services, driving traffic to them and receiving payments in return.

Many of these merchant sites claim to be owned and operated by MP3 Networks Ltd, a company listed in Malta. The company, which also has an address in the Caribbean, was set up in July 2004, five months before Market Engines started business. Its director and major shareholder is Charles Assouline. We attempted several times to contact MP3 Networks Ltd on its Maltese number, which was never answered.

It appears to use a search engine to find "sponsored" ads, so you end up finding mostly scam sites. Many of which are listed here Known Scam Sites (click on link) but also some new scam sites.

gogz November 5th, 2006 06:47 AM

well.. I did not pay much for it and it was a singular payment, could they still charge more money onto my account???? :yikes:

Hi there,

I just want to learn p2p network, as I am a student.

OldDeath April 20th, 2008 12:41 PM

Think this is not the right place for this, but post your questions... we will help you as fast as possible...

By the way, the first link in this discussion doesn't work anymore... It needs to be updated...

And here shareaza.com is listed as the official website... which is not true anymore.

Naturalnut August 25th, 2008 11:46 AM

Emusic does scam. When you cancel your account, they send you an email if you click on it they automatically reactivate your account and they DO NOT tell you or send you a confirmation email. I am currently trying to get my wasted $90 back because I did not track my credit card charges well enough. My bad but YES THEY DO SCAM. Oh and they will not give you a refund even though they can see you never downloaded any music and did mean to cancel your account 8 months ago... They also will nto let you talk to any supervisors and hold you hostage when you try to call and complain. I reported them to the BB also.

Just want people to know that even so called legit companies can scam.
