sbcglobal dsl blocking connection?

I just installed Phex and began to have the same problem with it that I had with Gnucleus and Warez: I'm not able to search for (nevermind down loading) files. I have a hunch that SBC is blocking my connection to other hosts.

Do you know if they do that? Do you know a way to get around it?

Call them and ask them yourself.
Seriously.
Try and sound as "innocent" as you can and ask them if they block p2p trafic.
Of course, don't ask them about ways to get around this (if they do throttle P2P).
You can try changing the port. (do you have a firewall or a router?)

what are some alternative port numbers that I could try?
