For me, LW worked on my home LAN with no extra configuration at all! My brother was searching for a song by some rapping group and it turns out it was in my list of shared songs, so the download went to the top of his list. The yellow stars because blue stars to signify a very fast connection (I guess) and he downloaded it from me at 100 Mbps (LAN speed). Made me realize that LW has tremendous University Network potential. :P Everybody sharing files at 100 Mbps (1 Gbps if they use gigabit networking!)

EDIT: Oh I just realised by "extra information" you meant to help him, not meaning that LW required extra information about one's system to work on a LAN.
