BitTorrent

Azureus is good for Macs too, but since LW is my main p2p program, I just use bittorrent on occasion because it's small, quick, and doesn't really interfere when LW is running.

Sort of like using textedit for a quick note, rather than firing up Word ;)

Shareaza

I use LimeWire for Gnutella (efficient, familiar, Win+Mac) and Shareaza the swiss-army-knife of P2P for BitTorrents... I like Shareaza, (easy to use, fully featured, flexible) but I will try Azureus, someday!

btw--there is a torrent-enabled LW available. Gregorio built one, and although it hasn't been updated recently, it should still work.

Azureus gets my vote! Much more advanced than official Bittoorent.

I haven't tried all that many from the list. Azureus gets my vote too.
It is more advanced than the simplistic (yet effective) official BitTorrent client and the new versions feature some nifty little additions that I like (for example the Swarm tab is cool).
It also has a fairly intuitive interface.
One of the problems though is that because it isn't as simple as the official client, it doesn't do very good if I try to run at the same time as LW.

LimeWire beta out now has bit torrent support. BTW polls can have more than 10 choices but only 10 can be added initially, so you'd need to edit the poll.

(BTW stief have you ever tried Tex-Edit Plus. I started using it in OS 9 as it could do all the same things as simpletext & more. It's a cross between simpletext & a fuller word processor. It opens as quickly as TextEdit & window doc looks the same, but has more menus & xtras. Though my version 4.4 is now 4 years old. Oh & I also use Excalibur which works in background for spellchecks.)

Azureus, but who knows, maybe Limewire 4.13 final will kick all these programs asses :D

AaronWalkhouse November 14th, 2006 01:45 AM

My hostiles lists will work with it. That alone kicks butt. ;]

Is it OK already in the current beta?

Tried asking Sam but he became hostile :D

Lord of the Rings November 14th, 2006 01:40 PM

After you started talking about legalities of using LW.

LOTR

Please reread that thread. I asked whether it would be possible to add lists like the BlueTack list, he said he didn't know what that list was, I said that I thought it was the one that PeerGuardian uses and that 'what's hot or not' punt.

Also the BlueTack list was an example. Like will it be possible to import long lists of IPs to block.

Then HE mentioned the law, and might I add, in a fasion that I did not approve of very much, hence the reply

Bit Torrent and Azureus

I started with Azureus which was good (I own a Mac) and then switched to Bit Torrent and find it faster although I don't seem to have all the things I should with it.

I don't think BitTornado has as advanced transportencryption as Azureus and uTorrent, but nevertheless a decent client. It's on the allowed list on private sites. So if it works well for you, then stick with it.

I just like Azureus cause it can do anything. The Swiss Army Knife of BitTorrent clients :D
