No much you can do with OS 9 (or classic). Download the classic LW version there http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...oadfree2.shtml

No torrent program on OS9 known.

Ciao

To run LW in OS 9 make sure you have the last updates: MRJ 2.2.6 for OS 9.2.2
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120209

& OS 9 updates http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75288

Don't forget to rebuild desktop after installing new software. ie: reboot whilst holding down Command + Option keys.

A list of bit torrent programs are here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...rrent_software

But I think you'll find none are compatible with OS 9. And besides, OS 9 has a file size limit of about 2 GB. And also besides, OS 9 programs are getting harder to get now.

For anything under that size, you can probably get it on the gnutella network anyway. There's different p2p networks & gnutella is one of them.

The torrent support brought into the LW betas will only run on OSX.

Torrents are different to a network like gnutella. Whilst LW Beta has only just added a torrent option, that's not it's main thing. The main thing is the gnutella network sharing.

For OS9, search .sit & see what you come up with. ;)

Also, to be on the safe side, Arrange search results by size (click on link) so the largest files are at the top of the search results. As you know, any program is going to be larger than 2,000 KB (2 MB)

Thanks Lord...
Now, simply : how to get big and important software ??

Are you looking for softw for OS 9 or another OS? The no. of OS 9 users/sharers out there is getting smaller every year. I did such a search & most apps are for OSX, only a few that can be run in OS9 & with the carbon extension (carbon programs can run in both OS 9 & OSX, but you'd need to do research to find out which ones & which versions.) There are still OS 9 games out there.

OS 9 and OSX too!

Hi Lord,
I am looking for softw for OS 9 and OSX too!...
Big and important softwares (Like Adobe collection..)..
in Other hand ... Is there networks containing softwares like gnutella network...
Thanks...

For anything outside of gnutella, you really need to upgrade to OSX to get such options such as bit torrent. The only other alternative I can think of is Myster http://www.mysternetworks.com/ but that network is quite small. But was still active last year when I tried the program last. I used Myster before using LW 4-5 yrs ago. There's still an OS 9 version available. AFAIK the program stopped development a couple of years ago.

Dear Lord of the Rings,

I just signed up to this site and have no idea how to post a question. My question sort of relates to this question here.

This is the scenerio. I have an PowerbookPC G4 and I want to load Tiger OSX 10.4 onto my older iMac slot loading G3 which uses OS 9.2 and has a CD drive and reads DVD's. What I've been doing up to this point and failing is I've been downloading torrents on my Powerbook (ie. OSX 10.4 iso's, retail, etc whatever I can find). Then I've tried burning them to CDR and DVDR using both Toast and Disc Utility and then when I put them in my iMac G3 drive they will read and open up but when I try to install the OSX it says the file that created it cannot be found. Is there a way around this. I've also tried it by restarting the iMac and holding down the C key while it opens.

So today I installed Limewire OS for Classic and downloaded some more OSX 10.4 zip files etc. and they show up as a white sheet of paper on my desktop and of course won't open up.

Help?? Or do I just have to go buy a Mac OSX 10.4 install disc?

Thanks,

Spiral Girl

We can't discuss this here in public. This is known as Warez.

The white icons is because you don't have a program that recognises the files. You'd need a unzip program. In OS 9 I liked this freeware program MacZip: http://www.tucows.com/preview/206993 & just drag & drop files onto them to either zip them or unzip them. I found it more reliable than stuffit expander & stuffit deluxe which wasn't always readible by windows users.

You'd need to send me a personal message by clicking on my username.

BTW which country are you from? My guess is Canade. BTW be careful of Shaw. They are reknown to shape bandwidth of those who use excessive amounts with p2p programs.
