Azureus really slows down my computer

Hi,

Not sure if I'm posting in the right spot but running Azureus in the background makes my computer really slow. Thought it was because I didn't have much harddrive space but I just bought a new iMac and it is still slow. Any ideas? Is this just known to be a slow one?

Maybe I'll switch to another one.
