New P2P information sharing

Hi,

This post is to announce a different approach to and usage of a P2P network. Below follows a few features of the initiative:
  • The application not intended to share music with.
  • It searches for information inside files or databases.
  • The software license is open source GPL.
  • The areas of application for this technology is listed (and in progress) on the source forge project wiki site.
  • The application uses an altered Gnutella protocol.
Please visit the homepage for this project Zanzi - The new way of sharing information or the source forge page SourceForge.net: Zanzi Information Sharing

Any feedback is welcome, or join the project!

Thanks
Zanzi

"The application does not share files (music)."

that would end p2p - p2p = sharing files.

Hi Nowshining,

I mis typed the math :-) , it should read;

"The application does not share music files." It does however share files, but is not intended to share music with.

Thanks for letting me know. Below a new proposed formula

p2p + db + file - music = new internet

u could of just edited ur post.

but by "music files" u also exclude musicians that want to share music files.

+ if u just exlude mp3, etc.. there is a loophole - zip files - if u block zip files - rar files - tar files - tar.gz files, etc..

in the end there is one way for stopping filesharing on the net - shut off the net and ban it.

another way for stopping physical sharing with the Microsoft OS is:

Also since MS is the majority leader they could remove the copy command from the menus, command line, etc...and only allow move. :) that would stop a lot of people not sharing thru the physical world.

.......

To stop both officially - kill all humans except maybe one.

Hi Nowshining,

For a while now I have contemplated how to search within or inside music files. This resulted in a thought - a music search engine where part of the song (as frequencies perhaps) can be entered as a search term, thereby searching for sounds within music.

Alas this technology is outside of the scope of the Zanzi Project. Instead the project aims to share information inside files in a distributed fashion. Moving away from the traditional websites as a means to convey information. Where traditional websites have lots of ads and affiliates and ‘unneeded content’ the Zanzi project shares the raw information from your desktop or via web services. Minimizing what I like to call a 'visual overload' and 'click time' while website hopping.

In the event that the internet gets disconnected, mesh networks (wifi) or the Netsukuku protocol may decidedly be an alternative to consider.

I edited my original post as well, thanks for the heads-up.

Enjoy what you do!

Zanzi
