I Need Help

I Just Bought A New Dell Computer With Vista Os. I Have Been Having All Kinds Of Issues. I Just Figured Out That I Needed To Uninstall My Mcafee And Added Avast, But I Still Can't Figure Out Why I Can't Get Any Avi Video Download To Play On My Media Players. Can Someone Help Me Figure Out What In The World I'm Doing Wrong? I Am So Frustrated Right Now, And This Is All New To Me! Thank You...
