LimeWire will work within Vista!

LimeWire will work within Vista!

My Limewire works well with vista becuase I run it as an administrator. I also drop any firewalls out side of vista's. If you are the only user on your system,
You will have to right click on Limewire's Icon and select run as administrator.
This opens up file sharing features with in vista. Just like in XP.
Go to Microsoft and search for UAC concearning Vista's Security features.

Hope this helps.. Dr. X:dance:

Thanks Doc Im gonna try that.... By dropping firewalls outside vista you mean to turn my McAfee firewall off and just leave windows firewall running?

For starters, don't have 2 software firewalls running together. Rather than being more protected, they'll interfere with each other & won't work properly. One software firewall is enough:p
Seems that there's a conflict with McAfee & Vista...have a read through this thread. If you use the forum search, or look through the threads here in the Vista forum you'll find more info

But this person has been able to use LW with McAfee

Im running java6..... Having the McAfee firewall off will still interfere with windows firewall? Do I have to uninstall Mc altogether?

From what you said in post #3, it sounded like you had both Windows & McAfee firewalls running.

Some people have totally uninstalled McAfee, some have uninstalled the privacy policy only & that did the trick.

You never actually said what the problem was...I guess LW won't connect & you're seeing the firewall icon? You might also have to configure your modem/router if it has an internal firewall. As you can see here, Grandpa (Vista user) had to configure his ;)

My problem is the same as everyone elses LW wire wont connect and when I try my Internet connection is shot. Im using my neighbor's network connection its called lynksys, n to be honest Im not sure where is coming from or where the router is. Ive uninstalled McAfee firewall and privacy protection and made sure windows firewall its letting LW go through. I dont really want to uninstall the whole program cause i like to have an antivirus n all that other stuff, but if theres a good alternative im willin to try. Im also running LW as an administrator.
I got a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Duo 2, 120gig HD, 1gig RAM... sorry I dont have my laptop with me right now I will post more details later. Thanks for the help.
