The Weird and Wonderful world of Vista/Limewire

Yo-Ho Folks:
The weird part is true...you can judge the wonderful yourself. I have been having the same problem as a lot of people with downloading movies. But, get this, I can download any size porn movie from full length trash to miniscule nonsense. (Try it. It's the quickest way to check different file sizes since it takes up 90% of any search.) I cannot download a regular movie or video clip. Right now I have been running a search on a movie which shows 19,732 available sources. I have tried at least 8 different sources and all I get is the `need more sources` message. Now, I know these are not all bogus sites because I downloaded the same movie from the same source on an iMac I tried out for a couple of months.
I do have a question regarding Limewire Pro: when I upgraded, the download page informed me that I would receive my installation code by e-mail after I clicked on continue. When I clicked it the download stared immediately (no code requested)and it seemed to load and run O.K. (got new icons and all that jazz) At the same time I did receive an e-mail which must have had an .exe file because my inbox has lit it up like a Christmas tree. What I would like to know is this: was the download that started without a code a complete application or do I have to dump the old file and reload from the e-mail I received. Secondly, this e-mail says it is a download site not just a download code. The message looks legit, but...
Thanks for any comments or assistance you can give me.

First of all, your movie download issue sounds as though you're seeing fake files. Always check movie files with Bitzi before download. If a file has 19,732 sources (that should set off the alarm bells...wow that's a lot:eek:) but no Bitzi rating, chances are that the file is fake!

Check the threads below for more info, tips & links to Bitzi. The second thread has info that also applies to video.

Now to your Pro question. If you bought Pro from www.limewire.com then the email you recieved will have a link to your Pro personal download page. Bookmark this link, you can use it to download Pro installers for up to 6 months after purchase:) AFAIK the email wouldn't contain a .exe file...unless you've bought Pro from somewhere other than the official site.
