Angry If it's not my firewall it's another thing...

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
Windows Vista
2. What firewalls you have?
MacAfee
3. How much ram?
512 mb
4. Hard Disk space available?
80 gb.
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Westell 6100
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
Home(house)
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
Most recent Version
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?
Verizon
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Your test worked!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
NO
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
New problem and yes I see the brick wall

Well there is all my info that you may need to help me.

My problem is that Limewire opens and evrything but won't connect. It jacks my internet as you've probably heard about before and I need to restart/disable network connections.

The error message displays after about one minute at one red bar.

It says my machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or is being blocked by a firewall. I have uninstalled my MacAfee firewall and disabled my windows firewall and it still won't connect. And I'm pretty damn sure I have internet...(Here I am)I think it has something to do with Vista because it worked on my Windows XP perfectly, I never had a single problem. I've tried every single thing that has been suggested to me by fellow members that have created a temporary fix of about 10 minutes of precious Limewire time but that is all.>>>

All I want more than this new computer is Limewire to work wit it...mouth watering...

Do you have Java 1.6? Even if you do, try reinstalling. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before installing the new one.
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Try port forwarding for your Westell. Here are the instructions.
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...0/Limewire.htm

LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within your router must all be the same number.

larsenator4000,

When you click on "Configuration", from the drop down list click "Services", then proceed with the instructions. If you run into more problems with portforwarding post back. I have a westell also. See the pic below.

You should use the same username and password that you use to login into your verizon email account.

If that doesn't work, try username: admin, password: password or try username: admin, password: admin.

If that fails, don't be afraid to call tech support. They can reset your password for you and tell you what it is. Most of the time when you call you get a level one technician who just reads prompts from a screen. They're not much good if you have a real problem, but they can get your password for you .

Exclamation Maybe it IS my firewall!!!

Alright heres a new problem that I have. Instead of port fowarding I restored the defaults on my Limewire options and restarted it. It worked perfectly fine and when I was done I disconnected it. When I went to do it again my connection got to 3 bars when out of the corner of my eye I saw a symbol pop up. It was a red arrow that was spinning and it went away after 1/2 a second so I couldn't see what it was. But when it popped up my connection went down to one bar again. The symbol was in the bar at the bottom of my desktop in the bottom right corner by the network connection, and Macafee symbol. Does anyone have any idea wtf this means?
