Are you using Java 1.6? You'll need to. Are you using McAfee? It's caused heaps of problems, most people have just uninstalled it (or parts of). Check these threads for more ideas, or use the forum search to look for Vista or McAfee...you'll find heaps of info to help;)

For starters, don't use 2 firewalls together. Neither will work properly.

Did you try uninstalling McAfee, or any of it's components? There's info about what's worked for other people in the threads I linked to earlier & also this:

I've also been having the same problem. If I was to uninstall McAfee, what should I use for protection? I can't afford to buy one.

Firewall or AV? There are good, free ones around. Try one of these, or use Google for more info. Just remember to download from the official sites only;)

Firewalls
ZoneAlarm firewall (click the 'basic ZoneAlarm' button)

Sunbelt Personal Firewall Replaces Kerio & Sygate firewalls. After the free 30 day trial period, the firewall keeps working with basic features only.

Comodo Firewall Pro

AV
avast!

AVG free

Avira Antivir
