Default Problems too

I also have problems when downloading. I have Vista and I am starting to wonder if that's the problem. I have several problems when dowloading:
the screen goes white/gray, the music stops playing after one song, it sometimes freezes up and I need to ctrl, alt, delete it, and when I minimize the screen the screen will also go white/gray.

I know that's alot of problems, but please help.
Thanks

Try uninstalling Java Make sure you uninstall all versions of Java and LimeWire. Then go to the link below and get Java 6 choose the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1 choose the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save it to your desk top. After saving install Java then install LimeWire.

This may or may not fix your problem. When your screen goes white / Gray it tells me Vista is freezing. What are your system specks.

CPU / Intel, AMID 2GH/z ?
Memory / Ram 1gig ?
What do you score on Vista 4.0, 5.0 ?

Same here! My internet connection just stops both in Limewire and in IE. It doesn't even get to the starting point sometimes.

I am using Windows Vista
I have McAfee Security Center
Ram? What's that- I have no idea how much I have. The same goes for the harddrive- the computer is brand new though.
Connection is through the cable internet. I don't know the make and model. However, I've had it for a year or so with my older computer when Limewire worked just fine.
I have the most recent version of limewire and java because i've been downloading them since yesterday.
I did the "test" and it worked fine.
I am not using the computer with any other networks or p2p sharing.
This is not the my first experience with Limewire. I've been using it for three years but this is a new computer so I've had to reinstall everything.
I cannot get the limewire screen to open so I do not know if there is the firewall icon or not.

When I try to install and run the program my screen changes color schemes and I get the fatal error message. I've never had any of these problems before.

Start out by uninstalling McAfee it is known to cause problems with LimeWire. And what version of Java have you been downloading. You need Java 6 For Vista. You can get it at the link below. UseJava Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1 and choose the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language If you do not have Java 6 uninstall all versions of java on your computer. Then install Java 6.

Thanks.
But will my computer be safe without McAfee? I saw the thing about Avast but I'm nervous about uninstalling something that my computer comes with since I've only had it for a week.
