Default goin crazy with stupid vista software

hi before i get yelled at just wanna say im new to forum so if question has been asked a billion times i apologize in advance. i have stupid macfree software and vista installed and cannot get limewire to download. get the fatal error messae like everyone else, changed compatibility to windows 2000 and it comes on but doesnt connect to internet (gets one bar) changed to xp service pack 2 does the same thing, tried router config where you change to "manual port forward" and plugged in numbers that doesnt work.!!!! uninstalled macfree software that doesnt work!!!!! can someone please help me with this issue had vista for about a month now and gone a month without having limewire to download music going crazy here and have had my comp crash more times with vista!!! please help a fellow music lover out [edit] thnx

ok cool 1. windows vista premium
2. macfree security center
3. 2 gb ram
250 gb hard drive 234 gb available
4. 5. cable connection
6. dlink modem and router the enhanced g one i think?
7. trying from my house to connect
8. latest java software and dont have limewire cause it wont work!
9. have cox cable internet
10.had limewirwe before but ever since my vista upgrade cannot get limewire back it doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok when you said you had uninstalled McAfee did you mean you had got rid of the whole program ??
With McAfee these are the parts you need to uninstall...

Also you said you Port Forwarded can you give me that exact model number for your modem/router as if it's listed at the PF site I can give you the instructions for limewire...

Did you connect fine with Cox cable on your old comp or have you changed ISPs as well, as Cox are known for shaping p2p...

it was fine with cox cable before when i had windows xp once i upgraded thats when the prob started and yes i did the full uninstall of macfree as well as the suggestion of certain things to uninstall and it still didnt work my dlink modem is dcm-202 and dlink wireless router is rangebouster wbr2310

Cox could very well be the culprit...
But you can give this a try...These are the instructions for your router, don't forget to set up the static IP it is very important, Edit... they now have instructions for Vista...
