Connects intermittently

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Vista Home Premium
2. What firewalls you have? windows
3. How much ram? 1gb
4. Hard Disk space available? 280gb approx
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? d-link g624t & belkin dongle
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.12.11 Java 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? tiscali
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try at LW, new pc.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes

I have allowed LM as an exception on my firewall. Reconfigured my router using the links found on this site and set the ports to 60649. I can connect rarely,(around 3 times in 2 weeks) and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason why it sometimes connects and sometimes doesnt. I think I read a post a while ago (from Grandpa?) giving some sort of settings for hosts? I dont know what else to try, please help!

thanks

Your problem's probably with Tiscali. Heaps of people have been having connection troubles. Have a look through these threads for more info.

Tiscali & Limewire
can't connect between 5pm-11pm
I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali

Make sure that the windows firewall's allowing LW access. If your router supports UPnP, enable it within the router & then choose the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Does the brick wall icon disappear? If not, try port forwarding. The instructions for your D-Link are below.
Port Forwarding for the Dlink DSL-G624T

LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number;)

thanks Birdy for getting back to me. (REGARDING PORTS - THEY ARE ALL SET UP CORRECTLY - SAME NUMBER ETC)

i am hoping its not Tiscali - as my ex who lived here used it and he had no problems downloading (he was running xp). However, I have had a lot of problems with tiscali lately - mainly after I upgraded to their top service as apparently I can get up to 7mg...which is a JOKE! I am currently running tests as my speed varies hugely and often runs slower than dial-up!
Interestingly, I downloaded LW Pro last night - and it worked! Today it doesnt. Leading me to believe that it IS tiscali and that they are not allowing me p2p access. Or that they have restricted me on their 'fair policy usage' (I was assured that they had removed this). OR that, like a number of other users, tiscali are only allowing p2p at certain times of the early morning (it was after midnight when LW worked last night)
Will work on tiscali. I tihnk I may have a battle on my hands.. Will post if I get any results!!
