can't connect (bet you can't fix it)

Is it just me or is there some sort of a problem with this software that seems to make it incredibly difficult to troubleshoot? I am on the verge of uninstalling it and not ever reinstalling it!
I wish there was some sort of option in LW Where you could do some sort of automatic detection of settings to optimise LW!!
Anyway, I had a good connection with LW a few days ago but was only getting 4kb/sec on a connection that speed tests at 453 kbps. So I adjusted all my settings and it went up to about 12kb/sec...until now, I get one bar and it won't connect. My ISP is WWWires, it's a wireless connection where they have put a box on the roof that points to another one about 2km away. Don't really know the ins and outs of it. Don't relly know anything about ports, they just told me they use 8080. here is my system info.

OS version? (eg: Windows 98)Vista home premium
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Wireless
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? ???? don't know, there is a splitter type box that houses the ethernet plug, power and then a plug that goes to the box on the roof???
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.11 1.5.0_11
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? WWWires
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New prob with middle user
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?Yes There is a wall

I don't get too much of the jargon But if someone out there can help it would be fully appreciated. Thanks, Sean

Here is the info, I wasn't sure which one is the ram and all the other stuff.

wondering why May 13th, 2007 05:31 AM

I'm not real sure of your internet setup or your ISP...So I can't help there...
But i do know that you need Java 6 with Vista and Limewire...;)
Java SE Downloads

uninstall your current Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down)

SeanCunningham May 16th, 2007 02:19 AM

:bangh:Please someone help

wondering why May 16th, 2007 02:46 AM

I feel bad for you, but when nobody replies it generally means that we don't have a clue as to why this is happening to you...
The only thing i can suggest is ring your ISP and ask them about the set up you have on the roof and if there is a Nat Firewall built into it...

If you can get any info at all about the modem/router we might be able to google it and come up with something...;)

SeanCunningham May 18th, 2007 04:14 PM

Thanks mate/mrs. mate, I think I will try. The only problem is ISP's generally don't seem to want to help much with limewire. Thanks, Sean
