Question Connection Problems (Vista-McAfee-Limewire)

Just like everyone else here, I've got issues. I didn't find what I was looking for, so I'm asking for help.

1. OS version? Windows Vista
2. What firewalls you have? McAfee, Windows.
3. How much ram? 2GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 60+ gigs
5. Connection type? Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 2Wire 2700HG-E (ISP supplied it)
7. Where are you trying to connect from? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.12.11, Java 1.6.0-oem
9. Who is your ISP provider? Telus
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test works.
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Yes, 2 other computers w/ limewire.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? Experienced user, but new computer & new problem.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Don't know, I didn't set it up.

Okay, so I'm sharing the connection with two other computers. I'm directly connected to the modem, the other two are via wireless. I got LimeWire for my new laptop a couple weeks ago. It worked initially, but rather slowly. (Please note that I have tried when there are other users from my house online, and when they are offline). The last few times I started LW, however, it simply killed my internet connection. Limewire would go from between one and three bars of connectivity, and then die back down to one. Simultaneously, it completely killed my internet connection. Internet Explorer wouldn't work, Messenger, anything that required a connection was disconnected. A restart of the computer is needed to restore the connection.

I'm sure it's my computer, as the others in my house (running Windows XP, LW 4.12.11 and previous, through a wireless connection) have no problems.
I've tried reinstalling LimeWire, I've tried using a wireless connection, and restarted my computer multiple times (whenever I try, basically).

Any ideas? If I've missed something relevant to my situation elsewhere in the forums then by all means point me to it, but I'm stumped. I've no clue what's wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's McAfee I'd say...Here is a thread that has been started by one of McAfee's Tech guy's he is looking for people's system specs as to why Mcafee-Limewire-Vista wont work....
Have a look at it, he offers a temporary solution...
Also I have provided a few links about other member's and their solutions for getting it to work...

Hey Canadian. I don't know if you ever fixed your problem but I have the same kind of issues. But it's not MCfee related, i don't even use it, so I don't know if your problem was related to that either.
It seems to be a problem between the nature of p2p and VISTA configurations. I had the same problem with windows xp but not with the OS itself but with my router. It basically allowed all traffic until p2p in a way clotted the connection and webpages stopped opening. I had to get a script to change some settings on my router and it worked. I'm guessing the same kind of changes are needed on vista but I have no idea how to make them. I'm sure others have had similar problems. If anyone with the knowdlege could help out it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It sounds like two completely different problems...
McAfee is Canadian's problem and your's was your router having a Nat Firewall by the sounds of it...

Well it's not 'was' it's 'is'! The problem is still unsolved.
The opinion i was giving was that his problem might not be Mcafee after all but might be same problem I have. Since he never said anything else I don't know. Also, the problem i mentioned that I had with XP and a router was not firewall related it had to do with some default values on the router like number of open connections and stuff like that. My current has the same behaviour but on Windows Vista and without a router. So my guess is Vista's configs are diff from Windows XP when it comes to p2p and they are causing this and I'm pretty new to Vista and I don't know where these configs are or how to change them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
