Starting Connection
 
At the bottom of the Limewire window, it keeps on saying Starting Connection with one green bar. i have a WRT55AG ver. 2 router. and this is a brand new computer . what should i do

Try port forwarding for that router. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT55AG
Don't forget the step of setting up static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number;)

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) I have Windows Vista Home Premium.
2. What firewalls you have? I have two, Windows and Norton Internet Security, but Windows Firewall is disabled.
3. How much ram? 3 GB
4. Hard Disk space available? i have two inside my computer, both are 320 GB, the first one has 172 GB left and the other i havent used
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? I changed the modem and im still having the same problem. then after that i disconnected the router and connected my computer directly to the modem. and im still having the same problem.
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Optimum Online (or Cablevision)
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Limewire PRO 4.14.1 and Java 1.6.0_02
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Successful
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. torrent programs
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. i just bought this computer and i installed limewire and i had no problem at all. but then somethin happened one day, i dont no how, and now im having this problem/
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? duhh yes it says limewire has detected a firewall

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP is enabled
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...lies/smile.gif i have Norton Internet Security 2007 and it allows limewire to access internet i see it on the program control list
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA i dont now what u mean by that
