Unhappy Connection Problems

I am having troubles connecting...and like many others - I am not very technologically advanced. Here's the info I know...

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) - Windows Vista
2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall - which I have turned off with no success to solving my problem!!
3. How much ram? ??4. Hard Disk space available? 230 GB5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) - wireless
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Router has been disconnected7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.13.13 LW 1.60_02Java
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Midwest Wireless
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Page cannot be found
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. - 1st Try
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes - have tried many different things to allow for connection

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? N/A ?
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall Norton
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA

In the bottom left corner it also says "starting connection" and only has one green bar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Usually when you see "page cannot be displayed" it means that your ISP has some sort of bandwidth shaping in place when it comes to p2p..

Even though your router has been disconected, what is the make and model number for your modem??

You could also try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...

Last but not least try uninstalling Norton, uninstalling limewire, re-installing limewire and then re-install Norton...
By the way is it Norton Internet Security 2007 you are using ??

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. basic version used to work until a few months back when it would connect every so often but mostly not - coincided with using windows defender to shut down spam, but disabling windows defender has no effect on the turbo version I downloaded yesterday. I've re-installed twice now and no effect
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

please help as this is most frustrating - I've read the forum postings and there is much that I'm not familiar with e.g. preferences folders, manula port forwarding etc

Your ISP also shapes your internet connection at Peak times...
fair use policy for Orange Broadband

Try connecting at different times of the day...

Also make sure your Norton is configured to let limewire through...

You could also try...
Uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....

and deleting your preference folder/s...
