When I start Limewire my display changes to low resolution. Need help!!! - FIXED !

When I start my Limewire session, my computer jumps to a low resolution. This makes everything super large, then I have to go and adjust my resolution. I don't mind correcting this, but its getting kind'a old doing so. I've contacted Dell, thinking it was my computer, but the computer is fine. I'm pretty sure its a driver associated with Limewire. Does anyone have any advise? :(

It could be caused by a setting in your graphics card. See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...w-i-fixed.html

Sometimes changing limewire's skin will cause those type of side effects. So if you've changed skins, try changing back to the default one.

Thanks

I tried what you said, but unfortunately it didn't work. I changed my skin back to default, and thought for sure it'd work, but it didn't. I appreciate your time, and intrest. Does anyone else have any ideas?

First I just want to confirm what os your using, Vista or XP?

There are other things to try. I seem to remember someone posting that changing to the "Metal" skin sometimes helps. You could also try updating your java and deleting your preference folder and changing LW's compatibility mode.

See: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

There may be something in this post that'll help: Black screen

Here's the info you want....

First, really, I want to thank you again for giving me your advise on this. Ok, here we go. I'm running vista ulitmate (if that make any difference?) Tonight when I get off work, I'll change the skin to the metal skin. (I have the black skin on right now.) I'll check tonight also if I have the latest addition of Java. I'm pretty sure I do, because I have update alerts set up, so I'm always updating. I'm not sure what you mean by "deleting your preference folder" and also "changing Limewire's compatibility mode." Can you explain that, and I'll try that tonight too. Previously I posted I had contacted dell. They took over my computer remotely, and installed drivers, but it didn't help. Eventually the Dell rep told me I should set a restore point on my computer basicly back to factory settings. I told the rep I didn't want to do that, because I'd lose all my files, and work on my computer. That is when I decided to post this. I noticed it only happens when I start Limewire. My resolution is fine all other times, but as soon as I press my desktop shortcut for limewire, the resolution jumps to low, and everything gets magnified. Hope all this helps. I'll be looking out for your reply. Thanks Again!!!!

Hiya, 6_pac !

Reading through this, it seems to me that there may be a lot more people coming in to help if the thread was 'Moved' to the Skins Section, hmmm ?
I have not done so 'cuz I wanted to check with you first...

Hi ursula,

You can move it if you think it'll help. I'm just not sure it's a skin issue. It might be a compatibility issue or maybe deleting their pref folder will fix it.....I'm certainly open to any suggestions though, and I'm sure litamustaine would appreciate it. Thanks...pac

6_pac- I fixed it, I fixed it. I was reading thru a link you suggested, from a user named Grandpa, I believe. Anyway his problem wasn't the same, but he suggested going to the start up icon of LW,and clicking on preferences to change something he was explaining in his post. When I went to preferences, I noticed under the "compatibility" tab, under "settings" I had a check mark on "run on 640 x 480 screen resolution. I unchecked that, applied the new settings, restarted my computer, and restarted LW too, and the resolution stayed nomal. I rebooted again, just to be sure, and everything stayed the way it should be. I'm glad you suggested those links, but I feel dumb it was something so easy, which I didn't snap about checking. I Guess thats what these forums are for, huh. Thanks for your interest in helping too Ursula. Thanks 6_pac, you rock!!
