Unable to delete old Shortcuts HELP! hi I have some shortcut links from downloads I have deleted that come up when i search my hard drive they are cluttering things up. I have tried using cleaners, erasers, defragmenting and even some command prompt stuff(which is greek to me) and these old deleted files keep coming up! :bangh: Can someone tell me how to completely purge them? |
Try rebooting in safe mode & see if the shortcuts delete. Getting into Windows Safe Mode Otherwise, try one of the tools here (I've used both Unlocker & DelinVfile). Incomplete Download File won't delete at all. Does your computer seem to be running normally? It might not be a bad idea to update your AV & scan your computer...just to make sure you haven't picked up some malware. |
Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't work These files don't show up in any search or folder by any program they only appear when i seach my hard drive and then they are see through and when i try to delete it says "This is no longer located in X verify the items location and try again. I'm really stumped and needthem to stop coming up in the search funtion |
As a picture is worth a thousand words, can you post a screen print of your problem. UK Bob |
