unable to connect

Hi all,I am running version 4.14.10 with Vista and I cannot connect to limewire as I have only 1 bar in the bottom left hand corner and it says connecting to network permanently.I am running zone alarm firewall and it also indicates that limewire has detected the firewall but I have checked and it shows that it allows limewire to run.I have tried to disabling zone alarm but it's still the same.
I have also gone into limewire tools options advanced firewall config, but I am unsure what to do now.
Can anyone help me please?:bangh:

Has LW worked before, or is this your first try?

Try this, it's been a fix for quite a few Vista users: Uninstall both ZA & LW (start > all programs > limewire & use the uninstall option there). Now reinstall LW & use the offline installer (when you click to download LW, cancel the dialog box that pops up & choose the option to download the offline installer).
Once LW's installed, reinstall ZA.

I have used LW in the past on another machine with XP and different ISP I will do as you advise and I ll let you know how it goes, thanks very much for the help this far by the way. :)

Who is your ISP now?

Do you have a modem or router? Have a look for the brand & model;)

If reinstalling ZA & LW doesn't work, try changing Java versions. Some people have had connection problems with Java 1.6.0_01 & 1.6.0_02. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine on XP): Java SE Downloads
or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11
Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one.
