Default New Computer doesn't like Limewire

Been using Limewire on my old computer for a couple of years (win 2000 - bless it!!) New Dell computer has Vista home basic .... I've removed all traces of the Macafee that it came with and installed AVG and Zone Alarm as these worked well on my old computer. Having tried all the suggestions in the stickies I'm now at a complete loss .... tried eMule and Bearshare with no problems (I've now removed them) Napster works fine but Limewire just refuses to connect.
System has masses of spare resources 2gb ram, 120 gb hdd, the test worked fine and nothing on our home network or cable connection has changed. Tried the Java thing ... made no difference ... can't change the port as Limewire just locks up if I try .... Does anyone have a solution? This takes me back to the early days of Win 98 .... hours of headscratching, installing, uninstalling and rebooting ... those were the days.

This fix has worked for quite a few people: Uninstall both ZA & LW (uninstall LW via start > all programs > limewire > uninstall option). Now reinstall LW. Last of all, reinstall ZA.

If that doesn't work, please give us your details
System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!!

Well ..... uninstalled both Limewire & Zone alarm, rebooted & re-installed Limewire ... IT WORKED !! Re-installed Zone Alarm ... IT STOPPED .. closed down ZA no change, uninstalled ZA & Limewire worked again so switched to Windows firewall and so far so good.
Thanks Birdy ... sanity partly restored ... now if half my other programmes would run with VISTA ... but that's another story.
