Limewire and Java

So I have Limewire Pro 4.14? installed on my Windows Vista Ultimate laptop. My Java version is 5.11, but if I try any version of Java 6, Limewire closes itself as soon as it opens. What's going on? I really want the newest Java version but Limewire is the reason why I cannot upgrade it.
