Setup Quitting - Windows Vista I have used LimeWire Pro before. But it no longer runs. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version and installed the latest version of Java. All Windows Updates are done as well. I am using Symantec Internet security 2007 and LimeWire has been set to Allow. I have a Dlink DI-604 Router which has UPnP is enabled (I've also tried disconnecting the router and still no success). I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit on an Athlon 64 X2 4200+. LimeWire starts the setup process and I get to the last window with the finish button and it quits and the windows message appears that this program has stopped working and is searching for solutions (which it never finds). Can someone please tell me how to get LimeWire working again. Thanks Ernie |
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Then try to re-install limewire....;) |
Well it was a nice try but it didn't work. While LimeWire reinstlled it installed Java as well. Still have the same problem it won't start up. E |
Go back into your add/remove programs and delete all the Java versions you have except for the 5.11... |
Ok - Only 5.11 is installed - LimeWire still crashes on the setup. E |
Try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;) Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista If that doesn't help try these fixes... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/287748-post5.html |
Thanks but still no joy. Neither fixed changed anything still will not startup. Ernie |
