Default Another "LW won't connect" thread

Hi all

System details:

1. Vista Home Premium
2. ZoneAlarm, configured to allow LW access
3. 1GB
4. 46.2GB
All points re. Internet/network connection. I'm connecting to the Internet through a connection to my university network, details available here: Student Network Service
8. LW: 4.14.10; Java: 1.6.0_03
10. Page displays "Your test worked"
12. First attempt at using LW
13. Brick wall is shown
15. AVG, AVG Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender
16. UK

Same old story, the ol' non-connection and the "LW is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return any results until you are fully connected to the network." message.

Any and all help appreciated. Moderately computer-literate, so don't go crazy with the jargon. Many thanks.

Did you see that, within the Student Network Service link?

Do other students connect to p2p? If so, you could ask them what measures they've taken

Yes I did lol, but everyone uses it. Other people in my house have used it (ie. Limewire, not just p2p) from the off, no problems.

Will Frostwire give me the same access to all the stuff LW has?

definitely, it keeps all your files and has the same layout and design - meaning all your stuff will be in the exact same place and you'll know how to easily use the program!

Frostwire has same probs as LW: at least I've got consistency.

I've tried everything. Messing around with gnutella file, etc etc

I'm getting the feeling this isn't going to work. I really don't understand what the LW programmers are getting paid for, considering how many people can't even connect.

Any last tips? Would be much appreciated.
