Can't connect in Vista 1 Attachment(s) Hi Though i can connect in Windows XP, LimeWire isn't able to connect in Windows Vista. Even when i shut down ZoneAlarm and NOD32. In this image: (moved to attachments) you can see I forwarded the ports in my router, copied the ports from the firewall settings in LimeWire. Still the LimeWire detects a firewall (the globe with the bricks). Who can help me with this? |
Some Vista users have fixed their connection problem by uninstalling both LW & ZA, then reinstalling LW first & finally reinstalling ZA. Don't uninstall LW via Add/Remove programs (or the Vista equivalent), uninstall from start > all programs > limewire > use the uninstaller there. Did you also remember to change the number in the 'manual port forward' box (within LW's advanced > firewall config) to match LW's listening port & port forwarded within the router setup? Please give your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!!(click on link) |
I tried the reinstall thing, but that didn't work.. These are my details: 1. OS version? Vista Ultimate 2. What firewalls you have? ZoneAlarm 3. How much ram? 2 Gb 4. Hard Disk space available? 250 Gb 5. Connection type? cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? DavoLink DV-201AMR 7. Where are you trying to connect from? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.14.10; Java 1.6.0_03 9. Who is your ISP? Tele2 10. The test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. On this same computer but with Windows XP LW worked perfect. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I forwarded the ports as seen in post #1 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? NOD32 AntiVirus 16. What country are you living in? The Netherlands |
Try the tips in this thread. Even though you're using Vista, & the preferences folder's in a different location...it should give you an idea of what to do. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post298705 |
Vista problems not connecting and crashing Hi everybody. The reason I joined this forum is to let you all know about my experiences with LimeWire. I run Vista Ultimate and only once could I get LimeWire to run. After the first time I would either get a message telling that the application needs to shut down because it encountered a problem or it would freeze upon connecting. What I have to do each time to get LimeWire to work is delete C:\Users\Jeramy\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire\installat ion.props. This will bring up the setup dialogue box the next time you run the application. I don't know why this works ...maybe its just my pc but I know that a lot of people have had the same problem. Thanks, Jemran |
