Bryan73 December 24th, 2007 11:14 AM

tekkie. We are in the same boat it appears. I could not answer Q14.
where do find out about UPnP? You can find my post of fifteen mins ago about three above yours.

Bryan, there should be a control panel in your router software that allows you to enable/disable UPnP, and it will show you its status
i think UPnP will be enabled already as most have this as a default setting

Bryan73 December 25th, 2007 10:35 AM

tekkie, Thanks for that. I have tried to find the info for the router on my c: directory/ programs but without any luck. I think I will just take your info about it being enabled as default, as I have already been connected to LW. Before this problem occurred. If I come up with anything useful I will let you know.

it may be an ip address that you need to put into your browser to get the router config panel up, or it may have a dedicated control program, it should tell you in the manual for your router
hope to be of help

Birdy has moved my posts to a Vista forum. I didn't realise that this is a Mac section. I will have a look in the browser tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Birdy and tekkie, I have just installed LWPro. Clicking on the shortcut Icon takes me to 'set up'. After selecting 'English' the page changes to a downloading bar which goes to 12% and then is replaced by a series of 'choice' pages culminating with a page warning of security programs and the need to see that LW has access by both Microsoft and the ISP. (I have both of these open)
I can only close this page by clicking the top right 'X'. I have previously selected 'Automatically Start/Open?' I wait but nothing happens. I repeat the procedure with the same result. I then open the install icon and select properties as advised, and choose the option to run on XP 2000 with the PT 2 update. I run the 'open' sequence again and again arrive at the warning of access. I close this via the top right 'X' and again nothing happens.
Any Ideas Lads?
And just in case this will never work; how do I get my money back? And what should I do next?
Regards Bryan

Birdy Has everyone gone to the pub today?
Limewirewin.exe -->Properties-->Digital Signatures says 'Can't find the secauth.hlp Help file. Check to see if file exits on disk. If not you need to reinstall it.' I can't find this file anywhere and I don't have the faintest idea where to get it in order to reinstall.
Aren't plums cheap?

tekkie: I have found another site which is related to LW It is called Frostwire. I have loaded it up and it is now producing lots of nice music for me. BE WARNED! There appears to be a lot of very nasty porn at the bottom of the title page. DO NOT OPEN. Let me know how you get on.
Regards Bryan
NB: I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by posting the above, but as the site seems to be a close cousin of LW I don't think so.

TEKKIE : Done it at last. I have LWPro up and running. Like a lot of things, when it happens it is always by accident, and then you wonder what it was that you did to get it to work. So; as it has just opened, (look at this post time) Here is what I did. I opened Documents and went into my 'Shared' file where Frostwire loads into. The next part is a shade delicate to explain, so lean a little closer as I don't want anyone to overhear. In Frostwire I was allowed to down load LWPro. I did so and I think that this is the program that has opened up. I found an entry which said something like 'macosx. ???. There was also an entry showing LWPro. I deleted the Mac file (I don't know where it came from) and selected Open on the LWPro. It then took me through the normal shortcut Icon sequence BUT when it came to the page warning about Firewalls there were the normal choice boxes available. (This loading sequence did not go through the 'Install' progress bar It seems that that part of the download had already installed with the program in the 'Shared' file) I selected 'next'. It offered to scan for other PtP stuff which I accepted and it opened like a lamb. I now have LWPro ready to roll. (Which, I would point out, I had previously paid for) Note: LWPro apologised for being unable to transfer any downloads in progress.
I think that maybe, just maybe, installing Frostwire successfully has some how blown a cleansing wind through the registry. This may sound fanciful, but for a practicing Atheist, after spending from Xmas eve till now on this cursed program, I am ready to believe anything at the moment.
I am flushed with success. After two and a half years of humiliation I have finally beaten my computer into the ground.
If this helps anyone else please let me know. DO NOT send me money. I live only for the glory.
Regards Bryan

tekkie: Additional Info: Using the abpve program I noticed that It was an earlier version (10). I had paid for the latest which is 14. I completely uninstalled all refs to the LWPro program I had downloaded from Frostwire as described above. I then downloaded a 'Locked' version of LWPro from Frostwire and ran it. It opened perfectly after first accepting my e'mail address as confirmation of purchase. It is now working perfectly and as I now have the program I purchased my problem is solved. If you enter Limewire in the search panel of Frostwire you will find lots of LWPro downloads that are not locked. You should now be able to solve your problem. Let me know how you get on. Regards Bryan. NB: I don't think there is as much rubbish on LWP as is in FW. I hope not anyway, as there is a lot of dross pretending to be great.
