First connection problems

Hi its my first time using limewire since 2001 and im having some problems getting it to go past the "You are currently connecting to the network" stage.

I get one green bar and its stayed like that for around 10 mins (longest ive left it).

im running version 4.14.12

my system specs are.

Windows Vista Business
3GB RAM
2.2GHz C2D
160GB HDD

Im using a DSL-G605T D-link wirless router with UPnP turned off and Zonealarm basic edition on the laptop. ive tryed opening the ports on the router and pointing limewire at them but to no avail any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

As a starting point, which may or may not work, you need to activate UPnP in Vista, Limewire and your Router.

Im having the same problem
I've tried EVERYTHING i even contacted Mcafee and redownloaded it and it still doesnt work ever since i PC restored my Laptop. It worked fine until then. Could that have caused it? I have a Dell
Windows Vista Home Preminum
Mcafee the newest version (and the guy at mcafee told
that it would work but nothing
has worked.)
Limewire 4.15.something beta version ( I had the other 4.14 and same story
I've tried everything for days nothing but trying to figure out a solution

I hate Windows Vista Home Premium because........

because I have spent nearly two weeks trying to get my son's Vista Home Premium PC to connect to the Internet via my Thomson ST585(v6) wireless modem.

Now today, without any intervention from me the Vista PC has an Internet connection.

I will admit that I worked on the PC yesterday but made matters worse, the Vista PC went from "being able to see the modem" to "not being able to see the modem". I also tinkered with the modem changing a detail on my son's registered info, i.e. from "Desktop PC" to "Generic Device". but that is it.

Now, the (Vista PC) thing is working perfectly and I don't know how and, at this moment, can offer no rational explanation as to why it works.

Any logical explanation will be gratefully received.

Most things on the market now aren't compatible with Vista. You could always try to upgrade to XP

Yes, I said upgrade because I think XP is a bigger achievement than Vista.

You are wise beyond your years but, unfortunately, upgrading my son's PC from Vista to XP is not really an option.

Anyway, seeing that Vista is likely to be around for the next five or so years you will find that anyone that works in Information Technology will be working with Vista right now in preparation for when their place of work starts installing this software.
