Aside from the unacceptable compatibility issues, Vista was not very well thought out. The much ballyhooed search function is worthless since it doesn't show keywords in their context. The new file management system is infuriating since it eliminated easy access to commonly used features like move/copy and up one level. It's easy to put files in the wrong folder since the target directory tree moves with mouseovers. I get frequent crashes. Programs won't close even in task manager. It's coming off like a beta release and is beginning to remind me a lot of that dog of an OS: ME. Hell... even the MSN browser/mail client doesn't work well with Vista.

XP rules as far as windoze platforms go....and I am soo happy that because of some big customers Micro$haft has been forced into supporting it for 8 more years (if my memory is correct)..

hmmm...well you have a hell of a lot longer trail than I do...I started with 98se, wisely skipped Me, loved 2kpro and think XP is the best of the lot...from everything I've read I won't even bother trying out a warez copy of Vista, let alone pay for a real version like I did with all the others (OK, I admit to trying XP warez before I paid for my copy)...I have better things to do than waste such valuable time and effort...

I completely agree. Vista is the complete "All PC Owners Are Idiots" package. Advanced system modifications? Forget it, go to BIOS. LAN connectivity and sharing? Not a chance, have to use Public folders. Even basic PC information is impossible to find, much less work with. XP was MUCH more user friendly than this piece of crapola called Vista.

Ultimate gaming OS my keester.

And DEFINITELY do not upgrade if you have XP Pro. Compatibility issues, account issues, connectivity issues, network issues...the list is endless. Not since ME have I had this many problems with an OS.
