Still Can't connect with Vista

Urgh! I have read many threads about how to get Limewire to connect with Vista and am getting nowhere. I have udated Java, turned off Show Tips at start up, deleted my preferences folder, set Norton Firewall to allow limewire, and added the gnutella.net file and restarted the computer many times. I get a single bar that says "connecting" but it never connects - and no connections appear under the connection tab. Everything worked fine when I had XP! (I have no other firewall running other than Norton). I have a DSL connection via router (not wireless) and DSL modem. Any help would be very helpful!
Thanks:bangh:

You've obviously read the 'If LW will not connect' sticky...

Go to the gnutella.net file, hover your mouse over it...what size is the file?

Has this connection problem just started after updating to the latest version??

If none of the tips in the 'will not conect' thread have helped, uninstall LW (start > all programs > limewire > use the uninstall option). Now use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name & delete what you find BUT make sure that you're not saving downloads to a folder with limewire in the name....they could be deleted.
Restart your computer, reinstall LW using the offline installer (use the forum search for this & you'll find out how). Restart your computer again & then start LW.

Otherwise, you should post your system details as asked for in the sticky.

The gnutella.net file is 20.7kb in size.

The LM version is 4.4.1 and all I did was try to run it in Vista. Is there a different version I should download?

I guess you mean 4.14.1...if you really do mean 4.4.1 then that's a 2005 version & that won't work with Vista. Double check to find out which version you have.

Just double check that the Windows firewall is off if you're using Norton. The 2 firewalls will conflict with each other if they're both on.

Please can you give us your system details???

I took your advise and uninstalled and then downloaded the offline version and it works fine. I guess it was just that the old version had to be undated. Thanks!
