Vista blue screen crashes cause Limewire to reset...

Running Vista Home Premium on a HP notebook and encounter quite a lot of blue screen crashes, especially while downloading from Limewire. Recently, this nuisance has begun to include Limewire's resetting itself, as though I had just purchased it. Each time, all files are lost! Each time, changes are made that make no sense - how files are saved and where. Would love to hear any answer to this annoying problem. Thanks, Jane

Hi, Jane !

From the top !

Vista is a power consuming disaster.
I was working on a Pavilion6000eu today... Bad boogie... Not necessarily the machine, but the Vista install is a joke... I hope you understand that when you buy a computer with a bundled so-called "pre-installed" Operating System it is NOT actually installed. Files are merely copied on to the hard disk... NOTHING has actually been installed properly. Nothing. Further, you do NOT actually receive a legal installation disk of your Operating System. You are only provided with the means to create your own so-called 'recovery CD' which is totally inadequate for anything but the most minor 'repairs'. There, now that's over with.

Sounds like you need the full kit, so...

Click on > Fixes For Limewire When LW Isn't Operating As It Should

and, perhaps this should be first for you > If LimeWire Will Not Load

and the probability is great that you will also benefit from > If you've updated LW and can't find your downloads!

Alternatively, you could try to remove all vestiges of LW and install some other p2p client that works and doesn't drive you crazy.

Hey, isn't this fun ?

Ursula, thank you for your kind and informative response. Yes, I was and am aware of how computers are sold and the operating systems they contain. I have already obtained my recovery disc from both HP and Microsoft, though this is not the problem. I have yet to explore the links you have thoughtfully provided but hope they will resolve this issue. Yes, this is fun. Best regards, Jane
