Uninstall Help
 
Hey! Today when I unistalled Limewire I get on getting this weird message saying that: LimeWire version 4.18.1
Java version 1.6.0_05 from Sun Microsystems Inc.
Windows Vista v. 6.0 on x86
Free/total memory: 31353128/33357824

and also: One or more necessary files appear to be invalid. This is generally caused by a coruppted installation. Please try downloading and installing LimeWire again. If the problem persists, please visit Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « and click the 'Support' link.

What do I do??? I no longer need limewire!

How did you uninstall LW? Uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs has caused problems for lots of people - remnants of LW left behind. Use your computer's search to look for files & folders with limewire in the name & delete leftovers that way (just be careful...if your saved folder has limewire in the name then you could end up deleting your downloads as well!!!).

Lots of people also recommend CCleaner, to clean up after uninstalling.

Before you uninstalled LW, were you having problems with it opening by itself all the time & refusing to stay closed? If that's the case, your computer might be infected & you should scan your computer with a good, updated AV program. Check out the thread below for links to online scans & more info about the virus.

If that doesn't help, you could try AVG Free AV & see whether that helps!

Make sure to update AVG before you scan your computer.
