Getting spyware and virus warnings Yes I am getting spyware and virus warnings that limeware (I am running 4.18.8 Pro and Java 1.6.0) is infected. The files infected are on my C//:program files/limeware. It is saying that the jar files are infected with a virus. I am using Trend Micro and Intelinet Smart Security 3.1.0. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks llubkle |

Are you using Trend Micro antivirus/antispyware? Is Trend Micro telling you that you're infected, or is it only Intelinet that's giving you alerts? Intelinet sounds like it could be a scam/rogue application... it might well be giving you false positives (ie telling you that something's nasty when it's not). birdy is dead right (ref intel smart security) Also Running two or more real-time anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall monitors at the same time can cause a conflict. That conflict can result in slow computer performance, error messages, crashes of the programs or other types of failure. You will very likely end up with little or no protection. I would recommend that you uninstall intel smart security and use trend micro as your antivirus protection. |
Thanks for the info. it looks like I got scam again!!! Yes both programs are upto date and yes I am getting this virus attack on both Intelinet and Trend Micro. I never got it before on Trend Micro only now after I installed and ran Intelinet. Thanks all I will let you know how it all turns out. llubkle |
I just talk with someone thru intelinet and their sayiing I do not know what I am talking about. I suppose to be getting a refund back after a little nasty argument with them. Now I deleted all their files from my computer including in my registry (I believe). Now I have to find out how to get Trend Micro to not tell me there are viurus in limewire jar files. This is one of 25 virurs alert I got from a scan with Trend Micro there all the same except the location after limewire in program files. FileTypeWindow.Class (Limewire.jar) C:\Program files\limewire\lib\ item: TROJ_Generic.DIT Help if you have any for me Thanks llubkle |
Thanks Birdy Thanks Skyliner I delete Java and limewire and reinstalled both. I did all three Malwarebytes, superantispyware and Kaspersky and I got no errors on three. Now I run Trend Micro and it still says I have infected files in limewire. It the same ones that are list in the above post. Also it is in these files where the infection is coming from. Compressed files limewire\lib\hsqlb5.jar & limewire\lib\limewire.jar I think it has something to do with running Intelinet because I never had this warning before... I might have to get rid of Trend Micro now too? Thanks llubkle |
Please cfm that when you downloaded those programs you updated them before running a full scan (MBAM, SAS) -- click on this link (JOTTI VIRUSSCAN) -- now click on browse -- scroll down to the filename that has the virus on it -- click on submit and await the answer (it will be scanned by multiple antivirus programs) By the way -- when you uninstalled "Intelinet Smart Security" check in your programs to ensure that the folder is still not sitting in there -- if so delete it |
Skyliner Yes after I downloaded them I updated them before running them llubkle |
Skyliner Yes I also check for file on Intelinet on my computer and none. I also went into the registry and deleted everything pertaining to Intelinet. I went into jotti and scaned both files and nothing was found. Someone do me a favor go into your c drive and kick on this file and see if you get and error. C\:program files\limewire\lib\limewire.jar It will be under the limewire icon. Thanks llubkle |

Skyliner This is what I am running, Also Vista Home Premium. when I click on the file C:\program files\limewire\lib\limewire this is the error I get when I click it on. LimeWire version 4.18.8 Pro Java version 1.6.0_11 from Sun Microsystems Inc. Windows Vista v. 6.0 on x86 Free/total memory: 4068736/5177344 com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader$StartupFailed Exception: invalid themes.jar at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader.sanityCheck(G UILoader.java:275) at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader.load(GUILoade r.java:58) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Nativ e Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknow n Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Un known Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main.main(Main.java:45) STARTUP ERROR! Now if I delete this file limewire will not run or start-up! I also have a file C:\program files\limewire\lib\hsqld5 this file Trend says also has the TROJ_Generic.DIT infection, but if I click that on it does nothing. do you have this hsqld5 file? llubkle |
Just FYI, another Trend Micro user is having the same prob: NEED a executable jar file!!! Edit - also check out these. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0062545AA8LmCN http://www.techimo.com/forum/technic...-problems.html http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...er-folder.html |
Do another scan with MBAM & SAS if they dont pick anything up I think what we have here could be a false positive -- birdy has provided some extra information please click on her links -- this problem seems to only affect the users of Trend Micro antivirus as far as I know -- have you been able to contact your Trend Micro antivirus support people for any information regarding this problem. It could be an update in your Trend Micro Antivirus that is causing this problem -- No I dont have the hsqld5 in the lib folder -- I do have a hsqldb file |
I tried birdy limewire.jar file and I scan it right after I downloaded it to my desktop and it was infected Right when I got it. Only when scan with Trend Mirco no other scanner is showing any virus. Yes that hsqldb file in mine does not have a 5 at the end I must of typed it in wrong. But mine has a virus in it also. I am going to be calling Trend Micro tomorrow to see what is the problem. I still have the option of going to the other web site you told me about (beeping or something of that) I am just trying to figure out how it works. Thanks llubkle |
OK everyone, I just got done talking to a tech at Trend Micro. She told me that they are flooded with calls concerning the TROJ_Generic.Dit virus. She told me that they know it is caused from their site. You do not have this virus if it says you do. They are working on it as fast as possible and to be patient. Also she told me that their sorry for the inconvience. Hopefully it will be taken care of soon. Thanks everyone for the help have a good one llubkle |

Ok -- Thanks for the update |
yep me to trend anti virus is popping up an alert but i think their really is somthing wrong with these files, they wont play.I tried two newer songs and they were corrupted but on a older one it was not.I had a problem that was familar with alot of limwire users latley.I couldnt get connected with the gunettla network, only had 1 green bar on conectivty, the rest red.I tried everything, finally i unistalled all of limewire, even the hidden files as instructed and installed it again.Ok finally fixed it,got connected to network, but now im having problems with newer songs having somthing screwy with them.I mean they wont even play on media player or limwire player and then micro virus goes crazy.used limwire for many many songs in pasr never had this problem before. Is it possible that the record companies have figured a way to beat file sharing or does this have somthing to do with the latesr glitch of limwire |
