Uninstallation

I am trying to uninstall Limewire because it has basically damaged my Java program. So, I go into the Add/Remove Program control panel, and I select Limewire to uninstall. It will not let me uninstall Limewire because it says I need a newer service pack for the installer. I have an idea of what this means, but I checked in Windows updates and it says that I have the most up to date service packs. I REALLY want to get rid of Limewire because it is messing up my computer badly. Does anyone know what I should do? Please help...

LimeWire doesn't do anything to computers unless it is running. Having it installed isn't going to cause any problems.

LimeWire uses Java to run - that is all. You may want to download a fresh version of Java and re-install.

You may find that it is a good idea to find an up-to-date virus checker and sweep your system.

If advertising programs are causing you a problem, go to www.lavasoft.de and get Ad-Aware (don't worry - the site is in english (the software supports multiple languages)).

Beyond that - you could find a registry editor to clean out the registry (be careful - don't do it if you don't know what you are doing).

The LimeWire files are stored in c:\program files\LimeWire by default - you can delete this folder.
