Default Transfer mp3 files to Ipod without using Itunes.

Is there another alternative to transferring/syncing my mp3 files into my Ipod.
What I do now is drag/drop files from Limeware apps into Itunes.
Itunes sync my mp3 files into Ipod.
For various reasons, I would prefer to uninstall Itunes application from my workspace.
I heard Winamp Lite media play was alternative to move & sync files into Ipod. Will this work?

Btw I am using windows 8.

Thanks.
TC.

There are other alternatives. I am not the one to know, but have read about other alternatives including plug-ins and apps that do the same thing. They've been around for several years and new ones out. Other members will probably know which alternatives there are.

iTunes is one heavy over-sized application for what it does. It can only play a limited number of audio formats and limited video playback formats. I have audio editing programs that are able to play, encode, decode many other audio formats and other abilities and or rip 'properly' from a CD but are one tenth of the size of iTunes. And I've been a mac user most of my life.

I found a good, free program via Google search. I think it was called CopyTrans (I could be wrong about the name). You can keep a copy on your device and then run it from there, (when linked to a computer as an external drive - I found easy instructions via Google), so you can transfer songs to/from any computer without having to install the program. It also has sync function.

Anyway, there are a few decent free programs (don't bother with trial versions of commercial software) that will let you do away with iTunes. However, you should keep iT on your device in case you need any firmware updates from Apple.

Thanks Blackhorse.

Just reading user comments & reviews by Cnet it appears Copytran is a great product for smart backups and allows You to either archive or import into iTunes or copy from your Ipod (files) into a hard drive, but it does not appear to have any option to transfer and sync music files from your computer to Ipod without transferring into Itunes first.

I would prefer to eliminate and removing using Itunes completely. It probably is impossible having sync capability with Ipod.

Tom.

Maybe CopyTrans Manager is the one, (it is different to CopyTrans), Backup iPod to PC,copy songs from iPod to computer,iPod to iTunes (this is their website)
Suggests iTunes is not needed.
Looks like the way to go. They have lots of iPod utilities but CopyTrans Manager is probably exactly what you were looking for.

The UserGuide: CopyTrans Manager Guides and Manage iPhone and iPod without iTunes . It looks easy to use.

I am a mac user but iTunes is the best we have for organising music, etc. But I am not over enthusiastic about iTunes despite using it for over 10 years. I've hated some of the limitations or changes they have made to it. Of course they want people to buy from their iTunes Music Store. But some people simply want to listen to their own ripped CD music and not buy mp3's/aac's. I have iTunes blocked in my firewall "lol". I have no need to waste bandwidth for their commercial advertisements or audiobook interviews downloaded without me knowing.

Hey Lord of the Rings.
Your a genius.

Copy Tran manager is just the right software product I need.
You can add/copy/delete from Ipod seamlessly w/o Itunes.
There are a few buggy quirks in copytran manager, but ITunes is unnecessary in populating your Ipod. And thanks to Blackhorse for bring up the copy tran suite suggestion.

Good job guys.
