Limewire 2.3.4 Installs SPYWARE NICE. I just installed the new limewire 2.3.4. Funny. As soon as it was finished my AD-AWARE went berserk and found... get this... 199 (THAT'S ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE) spyware components in the registry, 3 Folders and 3 files. (etraffic and cydoor among them) Now I know freeware has to be supported somewhere, but pardon me for saying this pure unadulterated BS. To install that much spyware on your computer and NOT TELL THE USER is just plain WRONG. It's this kind of practice that infuriates people and causes great projects like Gnutella to get a bad name. Sorry, but as nice as a product Limewire 2.3.4 MAY HAVE BEEN (I wouldn't know because I get errors now when trying to open it... since I removed the spyware) I’m afraid I have to go to Kazaa. For those of you that don't care, you're incredibly stupid and naive. |

I mean, I'm not stupid enough, like some people, to install Kazaa, which among other things, covertly installs the Brilliant distributed network software onto your computer..... but I'm sure you already knew all about that, right? |
Kazaa is the macdaddy of spyware. Try Kazaa Lite or AquaLime for spyware free versions. |
Spyware I ran adaware before and after installing limewire pro v2.3.3 and I found no spyware. |
