Check if you find a file called LimeWire244.jar in your LimeWire directory. Rename it to LimeWire.jar (and delete the old one). Another solution is to edit your LimeWire.bat file (in your LW-directory) and replace LimeWire.jar with LimeWire244.jar

There could be two reasons for this problem. One is, that your [LimeWire-dir] \lib\collections .jar is not where it should be, the other is that your LimeWire.bat file doesn't point to the right file. Open it with notepad or something and check if it contains "lib\collections.jar" or something.

I never had the problem you describe, but it's surely caused by some java libraries, that couldn't be loaded.

According to Taliban's instructions I did the following.

1. Goto Limewire directory.

2. Youwill find limewire.jar and limewire244.jar files in there

3. Delete the limewire.jar file

4. Rename limewire244.jar to limewire.jar

5. And it works fine now!

Thanks Taliban.

Reinstall Java

I couldn't get my 2.44 to work after an upgrade recently. Most frustrating. I got the same Java errors posted here previously, but renaming files didn't work at all. Every time I started the program, it would pause the cursor and dump out again. It was as if I had never even tried to start the program.

Uninstall and reinstall LimeWire didn't do the job. Uninstalling keeps the Java plugins intact. It's those that were causing the problem for me. Each time I had upgraded, a new version of Java was installed as well. I had three separate versions listed!

Uninstalling Java, one at a time, then LimeWire itself, then reinstalling from a fresh download of 2.44 did the trick. It forced a download of the current Java files that were compatible with 2.44 and re-established all the library links.

It worked for me, but that's just one computer. Your mileage may vary.

Java Update

Try downloading the latest Java client from sun microsystems 1.4 i think they're up to. get it here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html

After you d/l it be sure to uninstall the 1.3 client and restart limewire ... it will say that it cant find its client ... direct it to the 1.4 client and you are set.
