You might actually be the only one experiencing this problem and since I don't know what Java Runtime Environment / Windows version / Lime version you are using, and if everything is installed properly I can't help you. Maybe you could tell me something more about your problems?

Default Crashes with 2.4

Crashes with;
JRE 1.31 and 1.4

Machine is
Windows 2000pro with SP2

Limewire is
A paid up pro version of 2.2.4 that I have auto upgraded 4 times to 2.4. After each lime wire shut down/restart, java errors spew forth. Taking the client back to 2.24 fixes the problem.

There was an interim release from 2.2 - 2.4 that did not have this problem. Of course I cant get to that now.

What is the deal? I have sent my bug report in per the crash dialog window and still do not know what is up?

[STARTUP ERROR

LimeWire version 2.2.2 or above java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.limegroup.gnutella.util.CommonUtils]

There is more but I dont see the point in dumping it all here!

Lightbulb Microsoft strikes back

Try downloading the latest Java client from sun microsystems 1.4 i think they're up to. get it here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html

After you d/l it be sure to uninstall the 1.3 client and restart limewire ... it will say that it cant find its client ... direct it to the 1.4 client and you are set.

Ive got a similar problem. My error message is:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error

Program:C:\program Files\Javasoft\JRE\1.3.1_03\Bin\Javew.exe

abnormal program termination

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Limewire & Java plugin. Problem persists. Also tried newest java 1.4 something. Same problem. Only version of limewire that will work is 1.7

Hi,
Sounds like some of you might be experiencing different problems. I recommend trying the following procedure to upgrade your Java, and point your shortcuts to the right place.

1) Uninstall any versions of LimeWire on your computer.
2) Download and install Java 1.4 in the default directory
3) Install LimeWire and say yes if it wants to install java 1.3
4) Go to any shortcut you plan to use for LimeWire, right click on it and open the properties menu.
5) Highlight the contents of the field labeled target and delete it.
6) Replace what you just deleted with:

"C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.0_01\bin\javaw.exe" -Xss64k -Xms4m -Xminf0.10 -Xmaxf0.25 -jar RunLime.jar

7) Done. Java 1.3 can now be uninstalled.

Please let me know if this solves your problem.
Avi
