The problem is, that LW doesn't work, you should ask for the solution. And when asking for a solution you should describe your problem in more detail.

Smile Limewire and Windows XP

I have Windows XP and Limewire 2.4.4 works fine for me.

I have no idea what could be causing your problem.

Question

I have Win XP Prof. Limewire successfully finished installing and then installed the JRE enhancement.
Blue Screen of Death.

Limewire would then not work.

I have removed the JRE - but cannot unistall Limewire either. There does not seem to be any reference on your site explaining uninstalling Limewire.

Can you please explain how I can ensure that all elements of Limewire have been completely removed from my computer?

.most appreciated>

Michael

Talking Java, Java, java

Try downloading the latest Java client from sun microsystems 1.4 i think they're up to. get it here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html

After you d/l it be sure to uninstall the 1.3 client and restart limewire ... it will say that it cant find its client ... direct it to the 1.4 client and you are set.

According to the microsoft knowledge base ... windows XP shipped with some serious Java problems ... one couldn't even install J++ from Microsoft's own visual studio without casuing the infamous blue screen of death ... however last month or so ... Sun released the XP compatable version Java ... follow the above directions and you'll be set.

I have a similar problem in that version 2.4.4 will run fine if I'm logged in as Administrator. If I log in with any other username (with admin rights), it will not connect. I have JRE 1.4.0_01 installed.

Angry Windows XP Versus Limewire Pro

Limewire pro simply ignore the most recent jre version and download the 1.31 version .
note the version 1.31 doesn't work in windows xp!

I have 1.4 installed and it runs fine as long as I'm logged in as administrator. Any other user - even one with admin rights - and it just won't connect.
