Freezing Problems with WinXP

While downloading files with LimeWire, I decided to check my mail using Outlook Express. I read a message and tried to reply to it when my computer froze after I pressed "Send". This happened one more time before I realized it had something to do with LimeWire. So I disconnected LimeWire and tried again. Bingo! Outlook Express now worked.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

winxp fucks it up

I know what you mean.. But it's not XP's fault.
Actually it's the Limewire.

My XP froze (I mean really really froze) every time my limewire had been running for some hours. At first I thought it was winxp, but I've come to realize that the pc never hangs when limewire isn't on. I don't even have to be connected for limewire to freeze my computer.

I suspect it to have something to do with limewire reading the contents of my cache and cookies. something reads em, and it only happens when I run limewire..

I'm not so sure that it's a great idea to code limewire in java, but I'm even more unsure if it's a great idea to invade people's privacy for monetary interests.

Hmmm I run LimeWire Pro 4.4.5 and JRE 1.5.0_01 and don't seem to be having in problems.

I see you all are having problems, but I see very little information provided other than your running WindowsXP.

How about a little more information:
Computer type & CPU
RAM
HDD
what sp do you have installed.
LimeWire Version and where you downloaded it from
Java Version
Firewalls
Modem type & model
Connection Type (DSL,ADSL,Cable,Dialup)

You should take the time to read some of the stickies(ie. Newbies Guide to writing a good thread.)

It's hard to get answers or help when you don't provide the information needed.

With Morpheous comes spyware! lol That's the free version eh!? modraker? M is a leech! Just search the word leech on the forum & you'll get my meaning.

Have a look at the connections section of the forum b/c there's been issues for some people who use LW in a certain way. Stressing LW will stress your computer & net connection if overdone. But it happens to many p2p apps.

If you're firewalled or have your ports blocked or filtered by firewall softw or devices with internal firewalls or isp's eg: here then you can expect unpredictable results. The same for some USB modem/router users. Scroll down to 3.4 USB-based modems/routers
