Win2000 - Limewire start error

Hello,

On both version 1.2 and 1.4b I receive an error msgbox (red X) stating:

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
\Device\Harddisk1\DR1

I click continue, then I receive:

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
\Device\Harddisk1\DR2

I click continue. Proper operations procedes from this point.

I upgraded to 1.4b hoping that this problem would go away.

I am presently running Windows 2k SP1 on a PIII-1000 with 512mb ram, Adaptec 2940uw scsi controller, and assorted large harddisks. Is this a bug or do I have some setting wrong?

I am willing to work with tech suppt to isolate this if it is a bug.

Thanks,

John

Is tech support in the house?????

Uh-Oh. You have a problem. It seems your computer is not recognizing a hard drive. I had a similar problem with my old 386. At boot, it found the hard drive as foreign. It needed all sorts of cluster and type information and all. Of course, I didn't have that info. I could never boot Windows again. Your computer seems to have that similar problem, on a slightly smaller scale. Do you get that notice in other places? I think this is probably a problem for tech support. (Most likely your computer tech support.)

Hey buddy, I've got windows 2000 and I have exactly the same problem. No, there is nothing wrong w/ your harddrive. I've had this problem ever since the first time I've installed Limewire. I just ignore the messages and go on. Its not a big deal.

The only thing I can think of is that its looking for a disk in my zip drive. I don't normally have a disk in my zip drive when I start Limewire. Do you have a zip drive? If so, put a disk in there when you start Limewire and see what happens.

Windows 2000 & Limewire

I have the same thing happening. It won't affect the operation of Limewire it's just an annoying bug in the code for Windows 2000.

I'm sure the Limewire team will figure something out soon

In the meantime just hit 'Continue'

You hopefully will not get this error with LimeWire 1.5.

It has to do with the way that Java looks for root directories on your system when it starts up, so it's really out of our control as developers. You should not see this with the new version, however, and please let us know if you do.

Thanks.
