LimeWire spreading virus on my computer?

Recently Nortan Anti-virus found a file named 1999 memory lane. eml (i think) it said it contained a w32.nimda.enc virus. It was in the ...\limewire\2.4.3\ directory (not my download directory). Nortan delected this file. I attempted to uninstall Limewire and reinstall, once i reinstalled the same virus was found, now I want to permanently remove limewire and switch p2p software however limewire will not uninstall, and each day about 50 more files containing this virus are found on my computer. If you have any idea what could be wrong or have experience dealing with the w32.nimda.enc virus please reply with advice.

Did you download the software from the Limewire site or from an alternative Limewire developer?

- You indeed appear to have a virus and it is infecting your newly installed software. I do not think that there is any connection with Limewire itself although you may have downloaded a file from some source that is infected. You may not be able to uninstall Limewire due to the effects of the virus itself. I suggest you ensure you have the very latest from Norton and repeatedly run a scan until there are no further indications of the virus. In the meantime do not share any files with anyone as you don't want to pass the problem along.

I have just downloaded the official Limewire Pro, installed and scanned it... no viruses detected. (McAfee Viruscan 6 w/ latest definitions)
